Gum Care, The Answer to Gum Disease

What is the role of our gums on our oral care? Isn’t it so funny that if we talk about oral care we think automatically of our teeth? But we are wrong, oral care includes our gums too. Gum care is as important as we take care of our teeth. Infected gums can lead to tooth lose. We need to know the needs of our gums. What are the factors can cause its deterioration? What are the gum diseases that may occur when not properly taken care of?

The food that we eat if not cleaned up through tooth brushing may result in plaque, this allows infection in the gums to happen. Gums should have a proper care; poor oral hygiene may result to bleeding gums which is the first stage of gingivitis, but there is nothing to worry because at the early stage, gingivitis can be reversed through proper brushing and flossing. Gum disease also like periodontis may occur due to the poor oral hygiene, this case may be hereditary but still, the risks lessen through a good hygiene.
 Proper hygiene is one key to achieve a healthy gums and tooth. So if you are noticing a sudden change in your gums; its color and sometimes persistent bad breath. It may be sign of a gum disease. It is best o consult a  professional if this symptoms persists.

Gingivitis and periodontis are gum problems that are results of plaque build up in our gums. Plaque bacteria build up in our mouth after we eat food. Acids from food attack our teeth and gums which results in tooth decays and bad breath. It is so tricky because plaques hide in between our tooth, thus makes it hard to remove. Proper way of brushing at least twice daily and flossing once a day can help remove plaques, so it is best to do it to attain healthy gums.

Gingivitis, all though is a curable gum problem, but needs to be treated immediately, because this may lead to more serious health complications like heart attack and stroke. Gingivitis can be prevented by brushing our teeth and using mouthwash and hydrogen peroxide gargle can help cure this disease. Periodontis is second well know disease in the whole world. Periodontis is a gum disease that is life long and almost everybody suffers of this disease. The infection of this disease forms pockets on the gum lines. The further result of this disease is tooth lose.

It is so important to take care of our gums of our gums. There are also contributing factors that can harm our gum’s health: smoking and chewing tobacco, bridges that are ruined or no longer fit, some drugs/medications that are calcium blocking, dental fillings that are faulty or no longer effective. But apparently speaking this gum disease can be prevented. A good oral hygiene can help in prevention:
   
    1. Proper tooth brushing techniques
    2. Choosing the right toothpaste
    3. Proper diet
    4. Flossing
    5. Taking Vitamin supplements that are good for the gums (Vit. C).
    6. Regular dental checkup.
