Info you should know about Tanning

It is not just cosmetic responsibility when getting a tan nowadays. Most people believe that tannings will not only make an individual feel healthy but in fact, it creates stronger bones. An individual who has a tanned skin have been found to have a bone that is harder compared to an individual who lacks exposure to the sun. A person who has no or little exposure to sunlight is most likely to develop Rickets or lack of vitamin D. Not everyone has the opportunity of taking a direct access to the sun, especially those people who is living in countries with winter seasons. Too much tanning sometimes is harmful to skin, consider several points in tanning outdoors.

Solar Elevation the degree of outdoor ultraviolet light depends on the height of the sun in the sky. The peak of the sun varies on the latitude that we live and the season too. UV strength is at its peak during summer months and in noon time from 1pm to 4pm.

Latitude and Altitude the Ultraviolet Rays’ strength in the earth’s surface is connected to the angle at which the Ultraviolet Rays pass through the atmosphere. Tropical areas are close to zero latitude or near the equator, reason why Ultraviolet rays in these areas are so strong. The ultra violet ray is increase with altitude. The reason for this is that, the quantity of atmosphere available to absorb Ultraviolet is reduced so that shorter wave length arrives at the higher altitude areas. When the altitude is higher the sky is exposed to the peak strength of Ultraviolet rays.

Atmospheric scattering the suns’ Ultraviolet is made of unequivocal and spread radiation. The blue color of the sky is the spread blue rays from the sun to the atmosphere. The Ultraviolet rays is spreads more than the blue ray of the sun, this makes a person more exposed to the Ultraviolet ray.

Clouds and Haze Ultraviolet heat is higher when the sky is clear. Thick clouds reduce Ultraviolet intensity, but thin or light clouds have no effect to the degree of Ultraviolet intensity. During hazy days usually have higher amount of water vapor, but even though, the atmosphere still increases Ultraviolet and can result in higher exposure to UV rays even if it feels cooler.

Ground reflection the reflective possessions of the ground has an influential exposure to UV ray. Superficial like grass, soil and water reflect less than 10% of UV occurrence. But the sea has significantly higher exposure of 25% UV.

The tanning progressions have two stages. The IPD and the DTP.

IPD or Immediate Pigment Darkening is the change in skin color after exposure to sun’s UV rays. This color result in the darkening of melanin that is present in our skin.

DTP or Delayed Tanning Phase takes place after 72 hours exposure to sun’s UV rays. This is due to the increase amount of melanin in the skin. Our melanin serves as protector of our skin from burning. Dark colored skin tan more deeply because their melanocytes produce more melanin than those Caucasian colored skin. Caucasian or white skin are prone to skin cancer, this is because they have lesser melanin to protect them.

The color of your skin depends by the degree of melanin content. Melanin protects the skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Tanned skin is a noticeable proof that your skin is damaged. When UV rays hits your skin, the cell called melanocytes is stimulated. Melanocytes react to the sun by producing more melanin to protect you from the harmful ray of the sun. The melanin acts as a protector of skin cells. Though melanin protects our skin from the damaging effect of over exposure to sun’s UV rays, prolonged exposure to UV rays can eventually damage skin. We cannot guarantee that tanning is safe or not, but consider some effects of the sun to us.

Age spot which visible small brown pigments on the surface of our face. Usually they appear like moles.

Freckles they are the small marks on our face or fine lines.

Blotchiness or uneven skin tone

Skin cancer may effect on the later part of out life

Sagging skin makes you look 30 even when you are just 20.

Wrinkles usually visible fine lines on forehead and on the tip of our eyes (feet crow)
